VietNamNet Bridge - Vietnam’s Nguyen Tien Minh, the world’s number 7, bowed out of the Yonex BWF World Badminton Championships after losing 2-1 yesterday in London to the world No.3 of Denmark Peter Gade.

Minh displayed much determination to pull the Dane rival to a hard-fought performance lasting for an hour and 22 minutes before it ended at a result of 17-21 21-19 21-13.

The Vietnamese player was judged a black horse as he has never won the Dane player in the six previous encounters. He left the tournament with an award of 6,600 points for his results.

All other favorites at the tournament have kept themselves on the track to secure sport to the semifinals.

Three times former champion Lin Dan eased past 11th seed Sho Sasaki 21-14 21-16 to face veteran Dane Peter Gade.

China's Chen booked a semifinal against number one seed Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia with a hard fought 21-17 21-13 success over unseeded Dane Hans-Kristian Vittinghus.

64 world-class rivals take part in the event, which will serve as the official 2012 London Olympic Games test event for the sport.
