Tien Yen is geographically located at the center of the northeast gateway of Quang Ninh province, on the trade corridor with China, and is the closest gateway to the sea of the northern border provinces such as Lang Son, Cao Bang, Ha Giang... along National Highway 4B. It is located in the dynamic economic development area of Quang Ninh province including Cam Pha city, Van Don economic zone, the seaport economic zone and the Hai Ha - Mong Cai border gate.

Tien Yen district has forests, seas, and it spreads across all three regions of Quang Ninh province (mountainous, plain, coastal), with rich natural and human resources. Besides, Tien Yen can exploit many types and tourism products as it has a system of mangrove forests stretching along the coast in Dong Rui, Dong Ngu, Dong Hai, Hai Lang and Tien Lang communes.

The district has a high proportion of ethnic minorities, with 14 ethnic groups living together such as Dao, San Chi, Tay, and San Diu. Cultural diversity also gives this place a system of intangible cultural heritage with many different types such as costumes, languages, customs, practices, and traditional crafts. Not only has a favorable geographical location, rich natural resources, and unique and diverse traditional culture, coming to Tien Yen, visitors can also enjoy a very unique culinary culture.

The San Chi ancient house is a historical place in the commune. This is the address for us to introduce the beauty of San Chi ethnic culture to young generations, people and tourists. The recently-built stone road here contributes to the convenience of moving to the ancient house.

It can be said that this is an endogenous resource to build the district into a cultural center of ethnic groups in the Northeast with potential for sustainable tourism development. Many tourist attractions in the district have developed their value, becoming favorite destinations for many tourists when exploring the countryside in Tien Yen.

Tien Yen district considers tourism development as one of the key tasks to create a breakthrough in the local economic development. The district determines to develop tourism associated with culture to serve as a driving force to build Tien Yen into a cultural center rich in ethnic identities in the Northeast region.

The district has gradually built infrastructure to serve tourism, developing cultural tourism, eco-tourism, experiential tourism with community participation... associated with building new rural areas and civilized urban areas.

Every year, the local People's Committee issues documents and plans to develop tourism associated with preserving cultural heritage in the area, actively building and supporting tourism products and promoting promotion of tourism products.

The district has prioritized investing in synchronous infrastructure and techniques to serve tourist attractions such as: the road connecting National Highway 18A with Pac Sui waterfall tourist area in Yen Than commune; upgrading and expanding the road from National Highway 4B to Ha Lau commune center; upgrading the road from the center of Ha Lau commune (Tien Yen district) to Vo Ngai commune (Binh Lieu district); building Tien Yen River embankment, Ben Chau bridge...

In particular, the Van Don - Mong Cai Expressway that has just opened for traffic brings opportunities for tourism development of localities in the Eastern region.

Tien Yen is also investing in infrastructure projects to promote local tourism development, such as: renovating walking streets; building a Tay ethnic cultural village in Dong Dinh village, Phong Du commune; completing the road from the center of Dai Duc commune to Dai Thanh commune (old)... The

district also focuses on improving the quality of tourism products and services for tourists, building new tours to keep tourists staying in Tien Yen, such as short tours in Tien Yen or tours connecting Tien Yen and Binh Lieu.
