VietNamNet Bridge – Former world No 8 Serbia's Janko Tipsarevic has announced his withdrawal from the Viet Nam Open which is scheduled for October 13-18 in HCM City, according to the organisers.

Coach and manager Dirk Hordorff said he had suffered an injury during a recent training session.

Tipsarevic has just returned to competition after a year out due to injury that saw his ranking plummet to 393 in the world.

The 31-year-old has beaten the current world No 1 Novak Djokovic twice.

His best Grand Slam result was reaching the quarter-finals of the US Open in 2011 and 2012.

The tournament has attracted top players including Marcel Granollers (81), James Duckworth (96) and other players in the top 300 including Lee Duck Hee, Daniel Nguyen, Luke Saville and Jimmy Wang.
