VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnam’s leading striker, Le Cong Vinh, is negotiating a new contract with Hanoi T&T FC, breaking the rumor that he would play for a foreign FC.

Vinh and Hanoi T&T FC began negotiation for the new contract last week.

“The two sides have nearly reached agreement on all issues in the contract. I showed them my aspiration to play for a great team that always thirsts for the championship. Chair Nguyen Quoc Hoi (of Hanoi T&T FC) confirmed the team’s unchanged goal for the upcoming V-League championship,” said Cong Vinh.

Earlier, some local newspapers reported that some domestic and foreign FCs had offered Cong Vinh attractive contracts. The striker refused to test at Slavia Praha (Czech Republic) and $10,000 contract with Thailand’s Muang Thong FC.

Cong Vinh said wage is not his greatest goal. “I want to contribute to my team and win cups for my team and myself before I say goodbye to football. Though my FC (Hanoi T&T) has won the National Cup but I did not contribute to that cup,” Vinh said.

Last year Hanoi T&T won the National Cup but Cong Vinh nearly did not contribute to the team’s victory, since he had a long time for treatment of injury and was suspended after kowtowing referee Vu Bao Linh.
