The contract between Vinh and Hanoi T&T will end this September. In a recent interview, Vinh’s girlfriend – singer Thuy Tien – said that Vinh is about to move to the south as an important step in the future plan of this couple.
However, Cong Vinh said that he has three choices: staying with Hanoi T&T, playing for an FC in the south or going abroad. “I’m 26 already so I must be very careful with my choice. Perhaps after the game on August 20, against Song Lam Nghe An, I will make the final choice for my future,” Vinh said.
Vinh experienced ups and down during three football seasons with Hanoi T&T. In 2009, this FC bought Vinh from Song Lam Nghe An at a record price - VND8 billion (over $400,000) and paid him record high wages – VND40 million ($2,000)/month. In addition, Hanoi T&T had to pay Song Lam Nghe An FC VND500 million ($25,000) of training fees.
In the first season with Hanoi T&T FC, Vinh scored 14 goals and nearly became the best scorer of V-League 2009. The two best scorers – Gaston Merlo (SHB Da Nang) and Lazaro (Military Zone 4) had 15 goals each.
Also in 2009, Vinh became the first Vietnamese player who was recruited by a foreign club – Leixoes SC in Portugual, under a short-term contract.
The 2010 season was bitter for Vinh. He was suspended for three games and had to pay VND10 million fine for “kowtowing” referee Vu Bao Linh. After this incident, he was injured and could not play football for a long time.
After eight months, Vinh returned and made important goals for Hanoi T&T at V-League 2011.
Vinh’s adventure at Hanoi T&T nearly ends. Perhaps the top striker of Vietnam begins to think of marriage and family.
