The Toyota Classics 2016 concert will be held at the Municipal Theatre of HCM City on November 11, announced the organising board at a press conference on October 17. 





Themed “Opera with a Twist”, audiences will enjoy world-renowned works, such as Turandot and Carmen, which were rearranged by the British-Singaporean artist Pamela Tan Nicholson. 

The highlight of this year’s concert is the special performance of the song “ASEAN Solidarity”. The song was composed by Pamela Tan Nicholson specially for the event, to honour the vision and solidarity of ASEAN countries. HCM City’s student assembly will perform the song.

Vietnamese singer Tung Duong will also perform in the concert. 

Le Ngoc Dinh, the Vice Head of International Cooperation Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism said that the annual Toyota Classics helped people enjoy renowned works with the performance of various artists and orchestras. 

The concert is one of 200 social events of Toyota in Asia. So far, 191 concerts drew the participation of hundreds of thousands people, to promote cultural exchange and classical music to Asian audiences. 

Total ticket proceeds of 8.7 million USD were given to charity, supporting the cultural, social, environmental development and traffic safety in Asia-Pacific countries and territories. 

In Vietnam, the event was first held in 1997. Since 2009, ticket proceeds have been granted to the “Toyota Scholarship for Vietnamese Young Music Talents.
