This site is believed to converge the typical “flavor” of southern Vietnam. The journey around the green, peaceful melaleuca forest, which has a typical wetlands ecological system, is an interesting experience.
Visitors can take a motorboat to explore the forest, which covers a total area of 845 hectares. Along the way, they will see birds perch on tree trunks, bunches of water lilies, and water-ferns.
During the boat ride, they can reach out and touch the water-fern and yellow Sesbania sesban. In the early morning or late afternoon, visitors may get a chance to see large flocks of birds flying from or to their nests.
The boat glides over the water and stops beside old melaleuca trees, giant bird nests, and beehives. The forest becomes liveliest in the afternoon. The white of thousands of chirping storks contrasts with the forest’s green. There are also many species of other birds and animals.
The row boat trip ends when visitors return to their motor boat which takes them to a 25m watchtower. There a 49-power telescope enables them to see the expansive green forest to a distance of 25km.
There are 70 kinds of birds, 11 kinds of animals, 25 kinds of reptiles, and 10 kinds of fish in Tra Su forest. This place is also home to 140 plant kinds, including 22 types of tree. All together making Tra Su a symbol of beautiful nature with rich fauna and flora.
For people who love to take beautiful photos as memories, the pier and the Love Bridge are the places that they should never miss.
The pier is designed with many houses for the pigeons. All the houses are made with wood and painted white and brown, together with the wooden pier and the river, creating a beautiful and romantic, vintage-looking background.
The Love Bridge or bamboo bridge is also an attractive destination. The bridge is completely built with bamboo, and it is written in the Guinness Record as “the longest bamboo bridge”. Wandering on the charming, winding bamboo bridge, visitors will enjoy the feeling of time slowing down to fully immerse in the nature.
After the boat tour, tourists can try local food such as eel/frog/snake/chicken hot pot, grilled fish/chicken/frog, steamed chicken, quail…
Before leaving this place, they can buy local specialties like Tra Su honey, pure extracted Melaleuca oil as gifts for their friends and families.
All of these things are the reason why Tra Su forest has become a favorite tourist destination in An Giang in particular and the southern region in general. If you love poetic and romantic landscapes, want to enjoy delicious cuisine, then Tra Su forest is a great suggestion.
