From 1am to 5pm, trucks with loads of over 10 tonnes and coaches with more than nine seats must also use alternative routes.

On the section of National Highway 18 from Bac Ninh to Noi Bai Airport, such vehicles would also be banned from 2pm to 5pm from the direction of the Bac Ninh and Vo Nguyen Giap interchanges.

The decision is believed to be related to the departure of Chairman of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Kim Jong Un who is in an official visit to Vietnam.

According to Yonhap, the chairman planned to head home from Hanoi on Saturday morning, earlier than initially scheduled.

He plans to leave for a border train station in Dong Dang Town at around 10am Saturday, wrapping up his two-day official visit.

Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry had earlier said Kim would head back to Pyongyang on Saturday afternoon.
