Hanoi police have announced temporary road closures and traffic restrictions around My Dinh National Stadium as the capital prepares for the ASEAN Cup 2026 final second leg between Vietnam and Thailand.

The traffic plan will be in effect from 2pm on August 26 until midnight, covering the period before, during and after the match.

Under the plan, trucks with a designed gross weight of 1.5 tonnes or more and passenger vehicles with 16 seats or more will be temporarily prohibited from entering a number of roads in the area.

The affected roads include Le Quang Dao, Le Duc Tho, Tan My, Me Tri, Tran Huu Duc, Ham Nghi, Nguyen Co Thach, Do Xuan Hop, Nguyen Hoang and Chau Van Liem.

Restrictions will also apply to the right-hand frontage road of Thang Long Boulevard between Pham Hung and Le Quang Dao.

Other vehicles will also face restrictions on roads surrounding My Dinh National Stadium, including Le Quang Dao, Le Duc Tho, Tan My, Me Tri, Tran Huu Duc, Ham Nghi, Nguyen Co Thach, Do Xuan Hop, Nguyen Hoang and Chau Van Liem, as well as the same section of the Thang Long Boulevard frontage road.

Alternative routes advised

To maintain traffic flow and reduce congestion around the stadium, Hanoi police have also introduced alternative routes for vehicles that would normally travel through the restricted area.

Vehicles traveling between National Highway 32 and Thang Long Boulevard, in either direction, are advised to use Provincial Road 70 or the elevated section of Ring Road 3.

Hanoi’s Traffic Police Division urged residents and drivers to plan their journeys in advance and choose suitable alternative routes during the restriction period, particularly if they would normally travel through the area surrounding My Dinh.

The measures come as large crowds are expected around the stadium for one of Vietnam’s most anticipated football matches of the year.

Vietnam host Thailand in the second leg of the ASEAN Cup 2026 final at 8pm on August 26. Kim Sang Sik’s side take a 2-0 advantage into the match following their first-leg victory at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok.
