Traffic on Khanh Le Pass, a vital connection between Nha Trang and Da Lat along National Highway 27C, has partially resumed after landslides caused by prolonged heavy rains blocked the route for several days.

At around 2 a.m. on December 19, authorities cleared enough debris to reopen one lane, according to Chu Van An, acting director of Khanh Hoa Province's Department of Transport.

"Multiple teams worked tirelessly in three shifts, using heavy machinery to break through massive boulders and reopen the road," he said.

The landslides, triggered by torrential rains on December 15, affected six locations along the pass. Large boulders, some weighing hundreds of tons, blocked the road and brought traffic to a standstill.

On the evening of December 16, crews used 17 kilograms of explosives to demolish a 100-ton rock blocking the road, only to discover additional boulders in subsequent cleanup efforts.

Significant damage was also reported along the pass:

At Km43+450, debris inundated an emergency escape route, rendering it unusable.

Double-tier guardrails and drainage systems were heavily damaged between Km43+200 and Km43+500.

Cracks were found on concrete road surfaces in some sections.

Authorities have installed warning systems and deployed personnel to regulate traffic along the reopened lane. Vehicles are currently being directed to pass through the affected area slowly, one at a time, to ensure safety.

While one lane is operational, repairs and debris removal continue to restore full traffic flow on the route.
