VietNamNet Bridge – The national frontier security the northern provinces was stable in the first half, Lt-Gen Tran Hoa said at a conference yesterday, Aug 11, in Lao Cai.
Viet Nam Border Guard Force commander Hoa said violations on the border with China had decreased.
Meanwhile Viet Nam and Laos continued to protect and improve the border landmark system, Hoa said. So far 390 of 826 landmarks between the two nations had been built and hundreds of others had been defined, he said.
The conference was attended by 12 northern border and coastal provinces.
Deputy chairwoman of the Dien Bien People's Committee Giang Thi Hoa said the lives of immigrants in many areas in the provinces had been stabilised.
However, dynamite was still being used for fishing in some coastal provinces, mostly in Nam Dinh and Ninh Binh provinces, and trafficking and trade fraud was increasing.
The Border Guards would join hand with the police, customs and market watchers to keep political and social order, a conference spokesperson said.
