VietNamNet Bridge – A passenger train on the Hanoi - Hai Phong route hit a container truck, pushing the car 50 meters away, at 5.30am this morning, April 23, in Nhu Quynh town of Hung Yen Province.
Some witnesses said that despite the alarm bells and lights that giving the signal for the coming of a train at the crossroad between the railway and the road of Nhu Quynh town, the railway staff did not close the barrier. At the same time, a container truck crossed the railway and was hit by the train.
The train crashed into the middle of the truck, pushed the car for 50m long. At the scene, the container was broken, four rear wheels of the vehicle being lifted off the ground. The carriage next to the locomotive was derailed. Fortunately, the accident caused no casualties.
The competent agencies were present at the scene to handle the accident.
Mr. Pham Van Binh, Director of the Center for incident and disaster response and railway rescue of the Vietnam Railway Corporation said that the staff, who was in charge of guarding the rail barrier, went home just several minutes before the accident.
