Three coaches were disconnected, but no injuries were reported. The train, SE4, was on its way from HCM City to Ha Noi. It veered off its route while going through the Hue junction, a crowded section 6km away from the city centre.

The joint between the ninth and 10th coaches disconnected, and the last three coaches ran free for 300m before stopping. The train recovered and continued its journey after a three-hour delay.
