VietNamNet Bridge – Former Deputy General Director of the Vietnam National
Television Tran Dang Tuan will take the post of General Director of AVG (Audio
Visual Global JSC), President of AVG Pham Nhat Vu confirmed with the local press
on December 18.

The information has been confirmed by AVG and Tran Dang Tuan. However, Tuan did
not say that he will surely take the post of general director assigned for him.
He simply said that he will work for AVG.
Answering questions from some newspapers, Vu from AVG said that one year ago,
AVG once invited Tuan to work for AVG. At that moment, Tuan refused the
invitation. However, since then he has been acting as the advisor for AVG and
has been giving ideas on building the development strategy for AVG.
Vu said that AVG once again invited Tuan to work for AVG after Tuan resigned
from the post of Deputy General Director of the Vietnam National Television and
began working as an editor for VFC. However, Vu said, Tuan will make the final
decision.
Meanwhile, in the interview given to Tien phong newspaper, Tuan said that he is
“still thinking about that”.
“I will surely take some work at AVG. This is really a new and attractive land
for me,” he said. However, Tuan still has not decided which post he will hold at
AVG.
When asked if Tuan has set any conditions when accepting work at AVG, Tuan said
that he does not have any requirements. “I want to work for AVG simply because
AVG is a new and attractive land for me,” he said.
“I am interested in the channel about Oriental culture which AVG plans to
broadcast. And I would like to cover this channel. This is my only requirement,”
he added.
“I did not go to AVG because of the CEO seat,” he confirmed.
“At my age, money or social standing are not too attractive to me now. The
questions I regularly ask myself are which job will I take and can I undertake
the required duties well. I still need some more time to think and make a
decision,” he continued.
Commenting on the development of Vietnam’s television, Tuan said that Vietnam
has made a big leap since the first day of operation. Now Vietnam is launching
high quality television channels. With Vietnam Television (VTV), the Vietnam
Multimedia Corporation (VTC) and AVG, Vietnam now has three digital television
networks.
Tran Dang Tuan, born in 1957, is the first Vietnamese person who has PhD degree
in television. He graduated from Lomonosov University in the former Soviet
Union. He spent 20 years on working for Vietnam National Television. He has been
known as the person who laid the foundation for the development strategies of
VTV from 1996 until now.
