Monk Thich Thanh Hien, head of the pagoda who made the discovery, handed the object over to the People's Committee of Dong Trieu District for care.

The 4.2cm-high spherical box is decorated with lotus petal designs.

According to Bui Minh Tri, director of the Imperial Citadel Research Centre, it was probably made by artisans at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel and used in the daily life of the royal court.

Quang Ninh Province expects to submit the box to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, for classification as a national precious object.
