The operation, targeting criminal activities related to drug buying, selling, and trading in the border area of Thanh Chuong district, was initiated based on intelligence gathered by the Police Agency of Vinh City (Nghe An province). 

The investigation identified Xayyasone Xay, a resident of Vieng Thong district, Borikhamxay province, Laos, as the ringleader of the trafficking operation.

In a coordinated effort at 12:05 p.m. on June 12, authorities conducted a successful raid at the H3-743 landmark area along Ho Chi Minh road in Ngoc Lam village, Thanh Thuy commune, Thanh Chuong district. Vinh City Police, in collaboration with Thanh Chuong District Police and Thanh Thuy Border Guard Station, apprehended Xayyasone Xay at the scene.

The raid resulted in the confiscation of 20kg of various drugs, including 3kg of crystal methamphetamine and 170,000 synthetic drug pills, along with other pertinent evidence.

Following further investigation, police arrested Xay's accomplice, Le Ngoc Duong, in Vinh city during the early hours of June 13.

The case remains under investigation by Vinh City Police as efforts continue to dismantle the entire trafficking network.
