Two years have elapsed since the first multi-organ transplant surgery was conducted in Vietnam, but  Lt. Gen. Hoang Manh An, director of Military Hospital 103 still sounds tense when speaking about it.

VietNamNet Bridge – More than 1,400 people have registered to donate organs and tissue, setting a new record in Viet Nam, at a festival entitled Joining Hands for Life, on Saturday in Ha Noi. 

Although Vietnam performed organ transplant operations half a century later than much of the rest of the world and 20 years later than regional countries, it has now caught up with countries that have modern medicine.

 Surgeons in Cambridgeshire have performed the first heart transplant in Europe using a non-beating heart.
