The minister was referring to issues such as roadside encroachment, breaking barriers, illegally selling wares by the roadside, pedestrians walking and motorcyclists running on the highway; traffic violations while picking up and dropping passengers from cars and coaches, all activities that could pose a potential risk to traffic safety.

In order to handle such traffic violations and ensure safety of road users and vehicles on the highway, the Ministry of Transport has asked the People's Committees of provinces and cities through which the route passes, to request road users and residents living in the vicinity of the highway to obey traffic regulations.

He stressed that the Traffic Police Department should strengthen inspection and handling of violations, especially those committed by motorcyclists riding on the highway, as well as unregulated picking up or discharging of passengers. Such supervision can be done with the help of monitoring devices.

The minister also asked the Viet Nam Expressway Corporation to expedite the construction of roadside rest stops to meet the demand of drivers and road users.

The 245km long highway passes through five provinces and cities, namely Ha Noi, Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho, Yen Bai and Lao Cai.
