Russian tour operators size up Viet Nam market

Around 120 representatives of Russian travel agencies will arrive in Viet Nam later this month to study tourism services in Nha Trang, Phan Thiet, Hoi An, and Da Nang.

Sixty representatives from the cities of Barnaul, Uzno Sakhalinsk, and Ulan Ude will make familiarisation trips to Nha Trang and Phan Thiet, while the rest – from Novosibirsk, Krasnoyask and Irkusk – will visit Da Nang, Hoi An and Nha Trang for 10 days.

The programme is being organised by local travel firm Anh Duong Co Ltd in co-ordination with the Moscow-based Turkish Pegas Touristik Co.

Italian cruise ship makes five-day stop in Viet Nam


The five-star cruise ship Costa Victoria belonging to Italy's Costa Crociere S. p.A arrived in HCM City on Monday with around 2,300 passengers from Italy, Spain, Great Britain, and Germany.

During the visit, Saigontourist Travel Service Co took the tourists to the Mekong Delta cities of My Tho and Can Tho.

The ship's five-day trip to Viet Nam also includes visits to Da Nang, Hue and Ha Long Bay.

Saigontourist launches tours to paramotor race in Da Nang


Saigontourist Travel Service Co has announced tours from HCM City to central provinces to watch the Da Nang International Paramotor Race from May 23 to 27.

Visitors will also be taken to Hoi An, Ba Na Hill, and Hue in case of four-day tours that depart on May 23 and 25, and to Ba Na Hills and Fantasy Park in case of three-day tours departing on the same days.

The Da Nang International Paramotor Race is being organised for the first time in Viet Nam, attracting some 50 participants from Japan, South Korea, China, Spain, Germany, UK, France, the US, and Viet Nam.

HCM City hotels cut room rates on May fears


Many hotels in HCM City cut room rates in the first week of May after occupancy at many high-end hotels plunged during the same period last year.

Majestic Hotel currently quotes at US$145 per night against $170 normally.

Another luxury hotel on Dong Khoi Street slashed rates from $198 and $170 to $163 and $139, respectively. In areas farther from downtown, it only costs $83 on average even at upmarket hotels.
