VietNamNet Bridge – As of April 30, 2015, HCM City will put into operation 10 electric cars, which will travel around the central area of District 1 with fares of VND20,000 ($1)/person.

According to the local Department of Transport’s plan, each tour will be about 30 minutes from each other. The proposed routes: 23-9 Park - Nguyen Trai - Le Lai – Ben Thanh Station (Ben Thanh Market) - Le Loi - Hai Ba Trung - Le Duan - Nguyen Binh Khiem – Nguyen Thi Minh Khai - Mac Dinh Chi - Le Duan - Pasteur - Vo Van Tan - Le Quy Don - Nguyen Thi Minh Khai - Nam Ky Khoi Nghia - Le Thanh Ton - Phan Chu Trinh - Tran Hung Dao - Pham Ngu Lao - Park 23-9.

On this route, passengers will pass through the main tourist attractions in the city center, including the Ben Thanh Market, the Saigon Opera House, the Notre Dame Cathedral, the General Post Office, the Reunification Palace, the Saigon Zoo, the War Remnants, the Ho Chi Minh Campaign Museum, and the Vietnam History Museum.

Groups can book their own routes with the staff at 23- 9 Park.

Electric car tours will be available from 8am to 5.30pm. During the pilot phase, the city will use electric cars with 8 seats and a maximum speed of 40 km per hour.

The fares are suggested at VND20,000/person and VND600,000/vehicle for groups, within 3 hours.

Currently, there is a bus route around District 1.
