VietNamNet Bridge has reported the recent boom of telepathy centers that seek lost remains of martyrs by instruction from the souls of martyrs. But this is only hypnotism, said a senior expert of hypnotism.

Telepathy in Vietnam

An “ap vong” ceremony at a telepathy centre
“Ap vong” is the name for a method used by telepaths at telepathy centers to seek lost remains. Telepaths state that they can call up souls of martyrs to incarnate into someone in their families to guide the family to find the lost remains.

However, Nguyen Manh Quan, a master degree holder specialized in medical hypnotism, director of the Institute for Research and Application of Hypnotic Sciences confirms that “ap vong” is hypnotism, not something mystical.

Quan said that two years ago, when he returned to learn about “ap vong” at telepathy centers, he told scientists that if this situation is not controlled, one day an entire village, an entire commune or an entire district will go crazy or even die! “I overstated but we can’t trifle with it!” he said.

Actually, at least one was reported dead after “ap vong”. That’s a woman in Phuc Tho commune, Hanoi. Many others have got crazy after “ap vong”.

To prove that “ap vong” is just hypnotism, Quan performed the so-called “ap vong” on a female journalist, at the witness of another journalist from VTC News.

He asked the journalist to stand up, close her eyes and relax her mind. He raised her arm and said some words of insinuation that she has a special strength. After that he asked the witness to press the arm down. Oddly, he could not press the arm down. The woman’s weak arm suddenly became very strong, which could sustain items of dozens of kilos. After Quan said some words of insinuation, the arm lost its strength and felt down.

He continued the show by telling the female journalist to relax. The journalist gradually lost her consciousness. Quan said: “Now, you have no name.” He asked the journalist to open her eyes and asked her name but she shook her head and said she did not know her name. The journalist lost of her memory, even her name.

Quan told the female journalist: “Before your eyes is a vast and flat space. Let’s walk freely.” The female journalist immediately walked and collided with items in the room.

Quan took her to the empty corridor and told her that there are many hindrances and she should walk carefully. The journalist walked very slowly and avoided invisible things.

More oddly, when Quan told her about a very nice cat, the journalist raised her hand to hold the imaginary cat. She kissed, played with and fed the cat. The journalist looked like a mental patient at that time.

Quan told the female journalist that the elephant of the Trung sisters (Trung Trac and Trung Nhi – the leaders who rebelled against Chinese rule for three years, and are regarded as national heroines of Vietnam in AD 43) was in front of her eyes and asked her to describe the elephant. The journalist immediately described the elephant in details and how the Trung sisters fight the enemy.

According to Quan, under the influence of hypnotism, the brain of hypnotized people will “draw” the image of the things mentioned by the hypnotist, which are lively as real things.

Quan said if he tells the female journalist that she is a martyr named “A”, she will immediately become that martyr. If he tells her that she is Ba Trieu (a female warrior in 3rd century AD who managed, for a time, to successfully resist the Kingdom of Wu during their occupation of Vietnam) and gives her a fence, she will fence like a real warrior.

He said that with a microphone and a good system of loudspeakers, without noise from the around street, and in cool weather, he can make around 80 percent of people at the My Dinh national stadium in Hanoi (around 40,000) to be in the same situation of those who are considered to be incarnated by souls at telepathy centers.

He confirmed that if thousands of people have the symptoms of “ap vong” at the same time, it means that that phenomenon is not caused by “souls”.

Quan’s explanation about “ap vong” at telepathy centers is quite clear, based on his deep knowledge of hypnotism.
