VietNamNet Bridge – The central province of Thua Thien-Hue named 68 new roads in Hue city on March 17. A street along the Huong (Perfume) River is named after the late songwriter Trinh Cong Son.

The 600m Trinh Cong Son road runs along the Huong River, intersecting with Chi Lang and Nguyen Binh Khiem roads.
Trinh Vinh Trinh, Trinh Cong Son’s younger sister, who is also a singer, said: “Our family was very happy and moved when we heard the information from our friends in Hue. This is a great honor for us. It is more meaningful because it happened one day before our special show series to commemorate the 10th anniversary of my brother’s death.
Last October, researcher Tranh Thanh was assigned to chair the project to name new roads in Hue. Thanh consulted with the Chair of Thua Thien–Hue Music Association, Le Phung, about the project.

“We reminded each other that 2011 is the 10th anniversary of Trinh Cong Son’s death and we suggested the city name a road after him. We thought that the road should be in the city center, which has beautiful landscape, to attract tourists. It is very nice to walk along the road and savor the peaceful atmosphere, admire the Huong River and wallow in Trinh’s music,” Phung said.
The renaming of the road in the musician’s honor has received great support from Hue residents.
