On the afternoon of October 5, dozens of officers surrounded a plantation area in Phuoc Binh Ward, Phuoc Long Town (former Binh Phuoc Province), where Tung had been hiding after fleeing the crime scene.
During a search, police recovered numerous gun components, smoke grenades, black duct tape, silencers, scopes, and other materials believed to have been used in the crime.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Tung was a heavy gaming addict. He confessed that the murders were motivated by a “mission given to players within the game.”
Tung also told authorities he used a cloth bag to catch bullet casings so they wouldn’t fall to the ground, aiming to eliminate traces and hinder the investigation.
The case remains under investigation as police work to determine the origin of the firearm, the planning process, and assess the suspect’s psychological condition.
