According to the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, in the afternoon of November 13, the tropical depression’s center was located in the Truong Sa (Spratly Islands) region with gust of level 6 (39-49 km per hour).
Tonight and tomorrow (November 14), the tropical depression will move rapidly westward at a rate of 20 km per hour and it will be more powerful.
At noon November 14, the tropical depression’s center will be located in the west of the Spratly Islands, with the strongest winds reaching between levels 6 and 7, the shock to level 9. Because of the depression, the southern area of the East Sea (including the Spratly Islands) will have winds of levels 6-7 and thunderstorms.
Also due to the impacts of the depression, associated with the cold air in the northern East Sea, the waters from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau will have strong northeast wind of levels 6-7; the area amid the East Sea will have strong northeast wind of levels 5-6.
So far this year, Vietnam has been hit by eight storms and several tropical depressions. The most powerful is the storm Son Tinh that swept across the northern coast of Vietnam, causing damage of about VND10 trillion ($500 million).
