An official from the Performing Art Agency said that Truc Diem got the license late because her file was incomplete while Elite Vietnam, which holds the right to send Vietnamese contestants to Miss International pageant, was slow in finalizing the file.

The agency’s chief Vuong Duy Bien said until noon October 19, Elite Vietnam completed the file and Truc Diem got the license immediately.

In 2007, Truc Diem won Miss Fashion at Miss Earth pageant. She was voted in the top 50 of Global Beauties, a prestigious website on international beauty contests.

Truc Diem is a model, actress and singer. She said she was invited to participate in Miss International 2011 pageant just two weeks ago. She practiced hard with a foreign gym expert in the last ten days.

Truc Diem will join the pageant with a traditional costume designed by Long Dung, three evening gowns by Vincent Doan and swim wear by Tien Loi.

Miss International is an annual international beauty pageant held since 1960. It was created in Long Beach, California, USA in 1960 after the departure of the Miss Universe pageant to Miami Beach. Hosted in Long Beach until 1967, the pageant moved to Japan from 1968–1970, being hosted each year in the same city as the Expo '70. For 1971 and 1972, it was held in Long Beach again, but since that time it has been held annually in Japan.

This pageant is not based on looks alone. Contestants are expected to serve as "Ambassadors of Peace and Beauty," showing tenderness, benevolence, friendship, beauty, intelligence, ability to take action, and, most importantly, a great international sensibility. The ultimate goal of the Miss International beauty pageant is to promote world peace, goodwill, and understanding.

The current Miss International is Elizabeth Mosquera, from Venezuela. She won the title on November 7, 2010, in China.
