VietNamNet Bridge - About 11.30am on August 29, when passing through the gate of the Ha Trung Primary School in Thanh Hoa  province, a truck collided with the gate, making a concrete block weighing about 10 tons fall into the cabin, killing four and injuring one.

According to witnesses, after unloading about 2.5 tons of cement for the repair of the school, the driver did not lower the body shell and drove through the school gate. The body shell hit the concrete connecting the two pillars of the gate and the gate collapsed onto the cabin.

There were five people in the cabin, including driver Tran Van Hai and four male workers. Rescuers had to use an excavator to pull out the concrete block. More than an hour after the accident, the victims were taken out of the cabin. At this time, four people, including the driver, were dead. One person who suffered minor injuries was brought to a local hospital.

When the gate fell, students left the school so except for those victims on the truck, there were no more casualties.

The authorities have completed the scene examination and are making further investigation on the cause of the accident.
