Travellers will now have the opportunity to experience the serenity and tranquillity of the Truong Sa archipelago with its spectacular views – truly a unique island paradise – courtesy of tours to begin later this month.

The HCM City People’s Committee unveiled plans on June 22 to commence a pilot project providing excursions of the beloved Truong Sa (Spartly) islands located in the East Sea.

“I and my family are excited about the news and have already signed up for a tour,” said Le Xuan Quang, a HCM City resident.

“I think it will be of interest to not only Vietnamese but also large numbers of foreigners.”

A senior journalist from HCM City, who has visited the area on two occasions, said the Truong Sa waters are exceptionally pristine and beautiful.

He said he was confident visitors would also be impressed by the great food.

Doan Thi Thanh Tra, a marketing manager for Saigontourist, said the area is rife with historical landmarks and the agency has already made plans for a number of fascinating tours.

Other travel agencies in HCM City and the surrounding region have also announced plans for cruise ship packages— with some lasting up to 12 days.

Tourists will have a chance to visit the DK 2 platform, Bach Ho (White Tiger) and Rong (Dragon) oil fields and Truong Sa Lon Island.

In addition, they can attend a ceremony for 64 soldiers who laid down their lives in defence of national sovereignty at Gac Ma on March 14, 1988 and offer incense at the fallen soldier memorial and Uncle Ho temple.

They will also be able to examine up-close for themselves historical items proving Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Truong Sa archipelago.
