VietNamNet Bridge – Swimmer Vo Thanh Tung could not maintain his excellent performance as seen in the S5 men’s 50m freestyle’s qualifiers and finished 7th out of 8 competitors in the final on August 31. 

Tung made it 36s05, 4s far behind the winner Daniel Dias from Brazil, who also broke the world record.

The silver medal went to Spain’s Sabastien Rodriguez (33s44) and the bronze to Roy Perkins (33s69) from the US.
Later the same day, two other athletes from Vietnam took part in the weightlifting events.

In the men’s under 48kg, Nguyen Van Phuc lifted a total of 145kg to rank 7th, 35kg less than the gold medalist, Yakubu Adesokan, from Nigeria.

Meanwhile, in the women’s under 40kg, Nguyen Thi Hong lifted the same weight of 88kg like the UK’s Newson Zoe but could not bring home a bronze medal since she is heavier than the other.
