VietNamNet Bridge – Cyclist Huynh Thanh Tung of Military Zone 7 team won the second stage of the Ben Tre Television Cup yesterday, Jan 4.

Tung clocked a top speed of 39.515km per hour during the 124km stage from Long Xuyen City in An Giang Province to Vi Thanh City in Hau Giang Province. He completed the course in three hours 8.17 minutes.

Nguyen Quoc Dinh of Ben Tre and Quach Tinh Toan of Can Tho finished second and third, respectively.

With the stage win, Tung will keep the yellow jersey for the best overall time of 5:36.52. Following Tung was Dinh (5:37.00) and Lam Cong Danh of An Giang Plant Protection (5:38.08).

Nguyen Truong Tai of Domesco Pharmacy Dong Thap took the green jersey as the best sprinter with a total of 25 points, followed by Danh and Tran Van Quyen of the Army team, who both earned 24 points.

Military Zone 7 lead the race after two stages with a combined time of 16:53.38, followed by Ben Tre and Domesco Pharmacy Dong Thap.

Today, cyclists continue their 157km race from Vi Thanh City to Can Tho City.

The event attracted 70 racers from 14 teams nationwide to pedal five stages.
