The four TV set manufacturers have agreed to integrate VTVGo on smart TVs to be manufactured, imported and distributed in the Vietnamese market. The information has been confirmed by the MIC’s Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information (ABEI).
The pre-installation of VTVGo app on TV screen interface helps to speed up the development of the national digital television platform.
Prior to that, in July 2023, MIC convened five large TV manufacturers and requested them to integrate VTVGo on their products.
Four of the five manufacturers have agreed to the proposal, but Samsung has not made decision yet. Replying to the MIC’s proposal, a representative of Samsung said Samsung Vietnam will discuss with Samsung global on the issue before giving an official answer.
Nguyen Thuy Anh Thu from Sony Electronics Vietnam told VietNamNet that the manufacturer is willing to work together with MIC in implementing national digital transformation.
According to Thu, the integration of the national digital TV platform on Sony’s TVs will help users easily access the state’s official information channel.
However, since Sony is a global corporation, the deployment of the installation will have to follow a specific roadmap.
“VTVGo is available in Sony TV’s app store and it sometimes even tops the apps suggested to TV audiences,” Thu said.
With more than 45 million users, VTVGo has been recognized by MIC. As of the end of 2023, the platform has integrated seven national television channels and 50 local television channels.
According to Pham Anh Chien, deputy director of VTV Digital, the developer of VTVGo said this is a Vietnamese developed platform, and one of the criteria for VTVGo to be recognized as a national digital platform.
It is estimated that there are 12 million smart TVs installed with VTVGo. The average time of watching on the app is 1.5 hours, the same as the time watching common TV. This shows the internet users’ TV watching trend. The digital platforms like VTVGo will also be the mode of communications that can reach every Vietnamese in the fastest way.
Chien said once TV manufacturers are willing to pre-install VTVGo, this will benefit both VTV’s audiences and users, high-quality content is available for free on the device. This will also make TV products more attractive.
According to ABEI’s head Le Quang Tu Do, after VTVGo is pre-installed on smart TVs, the next goal is putting keyboard shortcut VTVGo into TV remote controls.
