Three National
Assembly Vice Chairs will also run for the upcoming National Assembly election,
including Uong Chu Luu, Huynh Ngoc Son and Tong Thi Phong.
Five members of the
current National Assembly Standing Committee are also on the list: Le Thi Thu
Ba, Chair of the National Assembly’s Justice Committee; Ksor Phuoc, Chair of
the National Assembly’s Committee for Ethnic Groups; Phung Quoc Hien, Chair of
the National Assembly’s Committee for Finance and Budget; Truong Thi Mai –
Chair of the National Assembly’s Committee for Social Issues; Dao Trong Thi –
Chair of National Assembly’s Committee for Culture and Education for Youth and
Children.
Prime Minister
Nguyen Tan Dung and three Deputy Prime Ministers – Nguyen Sinh Hung, Hoang
Trung Hai and Nguyen Thien Nha – are also final candidates.
The 12 candidates
who are ministers include: Minister of Public Security Le Hong Anh, Minister of
Defence Phung Quang Thanh, Chair of the Government Office Nguyen Xuan Phuc,
Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh, Minister of Justice Ha
Hung Cuong, Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang, Governor of the State
Bank of Vietnam Nguyen Van Giau, Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu
Luan, Minister of Finance Vu Van Ninh, Minister of Agriculture and Rural
Development Cao Duc Phat, Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs
Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and Chair of the Committee for Ethnic Groups Giang Seo Phu.
The list also has
the name of eight Deputy Ministers, including: Deputy Ministers of Public
Security Tran Dai Quang and Dang Van Hieu, Deputy Ministers of Defence Do Ba Ty
and Le Huu Duc, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Nguyen Thai Binh, Deputy
Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh, Deputy Minister of Planning and
Investment Bui Quang Vinh and Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien.
From April 14-17,
the provincial-level third consultation meetings were organized to finalize the
list of candidates for the National Assembly election of provinces and cities.
