Police in Thai Binh Province have arrested two individuals who sent over 11 million spam messages promoting online gambling websites, illegally profiting more than VND 220 million.

On December 16, the Thai Binh Provincial Police announced that the Dong Hung District Police had initiated criminal proceedings, filed charges, and detained two suspects for spreading spam messages advertising online gambling. The suspects face charges for "Illegally Providing Information on Telecommunications Networks."

The two accused are Nguyen Manh Hung (born 1987, residing in Dong Quan Commune, Dong Hung District) and Vu Van Dac (born 1986, residing in Thanh Binh Ward, Hai Duong City, Hai Duong Province).

The duo employed sophisticated, professional methods and modern technical equipment to evade detection by law enforcement.

Using specialized investigative techniques, Dong Hung District Police collaborated with the Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department (Ministry of Public Security) and other provincial police units to expose and dismantle the operation.

Preliminary investigations revealed that from September to December 2024, Hung and Dac used multiple computers, signal transceivers, and over 2,000 activated SIM cards to send more than 11 million illegal messages via telecommunication networks. These messages promoted gambling websites and generated illicit profits exceeding VND 220 million.

The police have seized evidence and are continuing to expand the investigation.
