VietNamNet Bridge – Two bombs of about 500kg each were discovered exposed on the riverbank after floodwaters receded in the central province of Quang Tri.

On September 23, the mobile explosive clearance team of Quang Tri province successfully dismantled two bombs weighing more than 500kg in A Ho village, Thanh commune, Huong Hoa district and took them to a safe place for destruction.

Locals said tat after the flooding caused by storm No. 8, the two bombs were found lying on the bank of the Se Pon River in the village of A Ho. The bombs with intact detonators are 1.5 m long, with maximum diameter of about 80cm.

According to the authorities, they are the MK82 bombs dropped by the U.S. Army in 1968.

Earlier, after the historic flood in 2009, people in Huong Hoa District also detected seven bombs at this location.
