VietNamNet Bridge – Two little boys in Tan Kieu commune of Dong Thap province bathed nude in a local river. They penises were injured after being bitten by unknown fish.

Parents are advised to not allow their kids to have nude baths
in rivers and canals.
The two boys were brought to the Thap Muoi district hospital, Dong Thap province for suturing their injuries.
A boy named Nhan, 7, was hospitalized on August 5 while Hoang, 4, was brought to hospital on August 9.
The hospital’s surgery ward director, Dr. Luong Van Pho, said that a fish bit the boys’ penis. It was lucky that the injuries were not so severe. They had nearly ten stitches on their penises.
The two boys live in the same commune but at different villages and they were attacked at different sites.
“Examining the tooth traces, I think that the boys were bitten by white pomfrets. Perhaps the fish escaped from cages and attacked the boys,” the doctor said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Le Hoang Vu, head of the Dong Thap Fisheries Department, said that the culprits might be blowfish.
Local people also thought that the culprits were white pomfrets. They said a local man was bitten in his leg and he saw a white pomfret as the attacker.
Vu said during their reproductive period, blowfish are very cruel. They can attack anything that breaches their living areas. Vu said he would send employees to Tan Kieu commune to find more information.
He advised local residents to not allow their kids to have nude baths in rivers and canals.
