The suspects have been identified as Ban Wei Bing, 38, and Shan Ke, 44.
Following the arrests, local police forces are set to expand their investigation in order to find other members of the gang, attendees at a recent press conference hosted by the Danang City’s People Committee were told.
The two men had broken into four companies located in the districts of Hoa Vang and Cam Le between June 20 and July 22 in order to drill into the safe boxes belonging to the respective firms.
In doing so, the group stole over VND1.5 billion, equivalent to US$65,000. The police successfully arrested the two suspects on October 16 as they were travelling on the Hai Van pass.
Police have stated that the gang consists of six members and were an organised outfit, using motorbikes to find potential locations in the morning, before returning at night to break into the companies and access their safe boxes.
The gang had also found a cave on the Hai Van pass in which to hideout and stash their stolen property.
Ban Wai Bing is believed to be the leader of the gang, it has also been noted that he was sentenced to consecutive sentences in prison in both 2012 and 2015 for stealing property in China. VOV
