In the clip, the two deer are seen standing on their hind legs, using their front legs to push and gesture toward each other. The unusual posture and movements have intrigued many viewers, with some likening the scene to a playful “sparring match”.
According to Do Hong Hai, Deputy Director of the Environmental Education and Services Center at Cuc Phuong National Park, the animals featured in the video are spotted deer, a species currently under conservation at the park.
“These deer frequently engage in playful interactions like those seen in the video. It is not aggressive or dangerous behavior,” Hai explained.
Following rescue and rehabilitation programs, the deer are released into a semi-wild enclosure spanning nearly 200 hectares. This environment allows them to gradually adapt to natural conditions before being reintroduced into the wild.
The area is open to visitors through guided tours only, ensuring both visitor safety and minimal disturbance to wildlife, while also maintaining forest security.
Cuc Phuong National Park covers more than 22,200 hectares across Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa and Phu Tho provinces. The park has been honored for six consecutive years, from 2019 to 2024, as Asia’s Leading National Park by the World Travel Awards.
