VietNamNet Bridge – Two Dao ethnic minority men have been arrested for transporting protected wild animal products from Nam Nung nature reserve.

Chiu A Loc, 42, and Ly Van Duc, 50, were caught with 18kg of animal skin, bone, flesh and organs, as well homemade pistol and more than 100 lead bullets.

Both detainees were residents of Krong No District's Nam N'dir Commune.

Loc and Duc allegedly admitted setting off with six others on a hunting trip to Nam Nung reserve in Krong No and Dak Song districts.
Forest rangers also found feathers, blood and the head of a gayal (an Asian ox) estimated to have weighed about 200kg. Gayal are listed as rare and precious in the Vietnamese Redbook of endangered species.

The men and the seized weapons and animal parts were sent to Krong No District police station.

It is the first seizure of gayal meat in the province.
