Minister of National Defence Phung Quang Thanh hands over decision to two officers.

Lieu. Gen. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, met and assigned tasks to the two officers in Hanoi on June 19.

The Vietnam Peacekeeping Centre (VPC) had equipped the two officers with necessary knowledge of the peacekeeping operation, and had contact with the UNMISS Office to complete procedures for their mission.

Nghia appreciated the VPC’s thorough preparation and emphasised that Vietnam’s joining the mission is testimony to the Party’s open foreign policy, contributing to maintaining peace in the world.

This also creates a foundation for Vietnam to deploy an army engineer company and a field hospital in South Sudan in 2015, he said.

Trong and Duc are scheduled to leave for South Sudan on June 21.
