After the first day with four gold medals, Vietnam won two more gold medals on the second day, in the women’s 400m hurdle and the women’s 4x400m relay.
In the women’s 400 m hurdle category, Nguyen Thi Huyen won the first place with 60.2 seconds, 2 seconds less than the Taiwanese runner-up.
In the women’s 4x400 relay, Nguyen Thi Huyen joined Vu Thi Men, Nguyen Thi Oanh and Nguyen Thi Thuy to finish the race with 3.44.49 minutes. This performance exceeds the record of the 4x400 m relay team of Vietnam (including Nguyen Thi Thuy - Nguyen Thi Oanh - Vu Thuy Trang - Nguyen Thi Huyen) at the 2011 SEA Games by 54% of a second and better than the results of the Indonesian team – the silver-medal winner of 2011 SEA Games.
Unfortunately, in the men’s 800m race, the SEA Games champion Duong Van Thai only won a silver medal with 1 minute 50 seconds 97. This result is very poor compared to Thai’s performance at the 2011 SEA Games (1.49.42 minutes)
Similarly, the SEA Games champion Dao Xuan Cuong did not play well. He came in fourth in the men’s 400m relay, with 51.95 seconds.
Finally, Vietnam ranked third with 6 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medal after Malaysia and Taiwan.
