They will be transported to the Long Binh depot in Thu Duc district for assembly on June 21 and June 23.

In October 2020, the first train with three carriages, out of a total of 17 trains, for HCM City’s metro line 1 arrived in Ho Chi Minh City.

The two trains No. 2 and 3, also with three carriages each, arrived in Ho Chi Minh City in May 2021. These trains were transported to the depot in Thu Duc district for assembly.

The trains are designed to serve up to 930 passengers each, with 147 seats. They can run for 110km per hour on elevated rail and 80km per hour on underground rail.

So far, 5 out of the 17 trains for the metro line No.1 have been transported to Vietnam.

The US$1.9 billion route which connects Ben Thanh Market in District 1 and Suoi Tien Theme Park in District 9 is 19.7 km long and will have 14 stations, including three underground.

Including four major bidding packages using official development assistance (ODA) and funds from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the project is designed to have 14 stations, three of them underground.

To date, 85.9% of the workload of metro line No.1 project has been completed. In the context of complicated developments of Covid -19 in HCM City, the investor and the contractors have come up with solutions to both ensure construction progress and protect workers. The line is anticipated to be put into commercial operation next year.

The authorities of HCM City on June 9 issued a plan to implement tasks to effectively operate and exploit the project.
