Major Truong Anh Tuan and Captain Nguyen Duc Thang will leave Vietnam on July 18 for South Sudan to join the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mission.

Deputy Minister of National Defence, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh on July 14 entrusted Tuan and Thang with the important duty in South Sudan.

He also sent congratulations to Senior Lieutenant Colonel Mac Duc Trong and Lieutenant Colonel Tran Nam Ngan who have successfully fulfilled their peacekeeping mission in South Sudan and said that this lays a firm foundation for Vietnam to further implement UN peacekeeping mission in the coming time.

Vinh urged Tuan and Thang to share experience of one-year working in the UN mission with the two pioneer officers in order to fullfil their entrusted task and promote images of Vietnam and its army to the international community.

The Vietnam Peacekeeping Centre has worked with the UN peacekeeping mission in South Sudan to fulfill all procedures for the two Vietnamese officers to assume their task.
