VietNamNet Bridge - Two players - Minh Tung and Van Dung - of the U22 team had to serve a warning from the coaching board, which has also asked the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) to eliminate them forever from all national football teams for unsportsmanlike behaviors.

Vietnam U22 team has been eliminated from the Mekong sub-region football tournament, held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, after two failed games. Not just losing in both games, they also left a bad image in the eyes of Cambodian fans when they did rough and unsportsmanlike acts, particularly Minh Tung and Van Dung.

At the 23rd minute in the game against U23 Thailand, defender Van Dung hit his elbow into the face of Anirut Suebyim and got a yellow card. A few minutes later, this defender received his second yellow card for lying as protest in the situations in which he committed fouls.

At the 39th minute, the Cambodian referee Tuy Vichhika raised a red card to eliminate midfielder Minh Tung for making rough foul on a Thai striker in front of the penalty area. Lacking two players, U22 Vietnam lost to U23 Thailand by 0-2 and said goodbye to the tournament.

After the game, the U22 Vietnam team had an emergency meeting in Phnom Penh before returning to Vietnam. At the meeting, with the witness of VFF General Secretary Ngo Le Bang, coach Dinh Van Dung criticized two players for playing rough and being irresponsible and released a warning before the whole team.

Vietnam U22 coaching board announced to report the incident in writing to the VFF and the two players’ FCs and to propose the VFF to never call the two players to the national teams again.

VFF representative, Mr. Ngo Le Bang said: "Although this is only a friendly tournament, the players must be aware of their responsibilities when they wear the national jerseys. They have to play seriously, dedicated and respect the opponents and the audience as well. Those who do not play for the national flag are unworthy of being convened into the national squad. The VFF will meet and decide this issue soon."

Minh Tung is a player of Ninh Binh FC and Van Dung is a player of Hanoi T & T. They are at the age of attending the young national teams for the Olympic 2016 and SEA Games 2015.
