VietNamNet Bridge – The Vietnam Central Hydro-meteorological Forecast Center this morning, August 23, released first information about the Tembin typhoon, which is forecasted to enter the East Sea tomorrow.

Typhoon Tembin is approaching Taiwan and threatens to dump torrential rains that could unleash deadly landslides.

At 2:30 p.m, August 23, the storm was located about 210 kilometers off Taiwan, packing winds of 155 kilometers per hour. It said the slow-moving storm would probably make landfall in Taiwan around noon of August 24.

The storm will enter the East Sea tomorrow.

Under Tembin’s impacts, there will have rough seas and winds between 40 and 87 kph in the northeast area of the East Sea. In the area near the typhoon’s eye, winds will be stronger, at 88-117 kph, together with gusts of over 132 kph.

Another storm, named Bolaven, is also moving into the East Sea. Due to interaction between the two typhoons, Tembin may be weakened or pulled towards to the East Sea, potentially creating a very powerful storm.

Bolaven is the Laotian word for plateau or mesa, while Tembin is Japanese for the constellation Libra.

Vietnamese hydro-meteorological bureau is watching the developments of the two storms.
