A subway train rear-ended another Tuesday afternoon in Shanghai, leaving more than 40 passengers injured, the subway operator said.

Most of the injures were slight and there was no immediate report of severe injuries, Shanghai Shentong Metro Group Co. said in a statement.

The crash occurred about at 2:51 p.m. following signal system failure at one station on the Line 10 subway, it said, adding about 500 passengers have been evacuated from the trains.
