VietNamNet Bridge – HCM City’s quarantine officers and police on December 20 detected and seized 2 tons of rotten and stinking pork on a North-South coach.
Nearly one tons of rotten wild boar meat was packed in spongy boxes, with ice, was transported
from the north to HCM City to sell to specialty restaurants. Driver Tran Van Ha, 34, from
Nam Dinh province, said one man sent the meat to HCM City but the receiver was unknown.
Meat was becoming rotten. Ha showed the officers three quarantine certificates issued by the
provincial Veterinary Sub-department, but after a quick check, the officers
found no quarantine signs fixed onto the actual goods.
Flies swarmed around pieces of pork, which is considered a ‘specialty.’ The officers also
found a carton containing nine suckling pigs weighing 54 kg, with many red blood spots
under their skin. The team made a report and seized all of the meat and suckling pigs for a later inspection.
They also found out over one tons of dried fruits with unclear origin and no expired date.
Over 30 cartons of dried fruit were hidden to avoid inspection.
The receiver of this product is also unidentified.
