VietNamNet Bridge - The official website of the Photographic Society of America (PSA) has announced its 2013 Who‘s Who in Photography, with the names of two Vietnamese photographers.
The photo "Worry 2" by Dao Tien Dat won the gold medal of FIAP and PSA in 2013.
The “Northwest Smile 2” photo by Dao Tien Dat won two gold medals at the DIGA 2013 U.S photo contest.
"Helping mom" photo by Tran Phong won the WVFD gold medal in Belgium and the PSA gold medal in the U.S. in 2013.
In 2013 the PSA recognized more than 550 photos from contests worldwide in six categories, including digital photos, photos of nature, travel photos, photojournalism, print or traditional photos and 3D photos.
More than 1,100 photographers around the world are listed in PSA Who's Who in Photography, released on June 6. The photographers with the highest score are at the top of the list. Depending on each category, there are from nine to 27 top photographers.
According to PSA’s rules, a photographer receives one point for each prize or each photo selected for exhibitions. Two Vietnamese artists were named in the top photographers in the travel and traditional photo categories. Specifically, Dao Tien Dat ranks first and Tran Phong stands 16th in the Top Overseas Exhibitors in Small Color Prints.
In the Top Overseas Exhibitors in Small Black-and-White Prints, Tran Phong ranked second and Dao Tien Dat sixth. Dao Tien Dat also ranked eighty in the Top Overseas Exhibitors in Travel Photos.
With this result, Dao Tien Dat has three times been ranked first by the PSA for small prints, twice for color photos and once for black and white photos.
In 2011, Tran Phong ranked first for digital photos in the PSA Who's Who in Photography.
In the last 16 years, photographer Dao Tien Dat, a native of Binh Dinh central province, has won 818 national and international awards. Last year alone he won 123 international prizes on the topics of human love and fate.
Photographer Tran Phong has won over 830 local and international prizes over the last 30 years. Most of his photos are about the culture and people in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. He has published two photo books "Wooden folk sculpture of the Central Highlands" (1995) and "Highlands Festival" (1998).
