Yeman’s Saba news agency reported that among the deaths were two German doctors, two Vietnamese doctors, two Philippine nurses, and an Indian nurse.

Nearly 170 people were injured in the terrorist attack.

UN General Secretary Ban Ki-Moon immediately condemned the bloody attack and called on parties concerned to probe into the case to bring those masterminding the bombing to court.  

He reaffirmed the UN Security Council will consider additional measures against any individuals and factions that attempt to prevent the political transition in Yemen.

In a press statement released the same day, the UN Security Council described the terrorist attack as heinous act, saying any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable.

Violence has erupted in Yemen which is experiencing a thorny political transition since President Ali Abdullah Saheh was ousted in February 2012.

The attacks have generally been blamed on Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), considered the jihadist network's most dangerous branch.
