VietNamNet Bridge - Two Vietnamese sailors died and four others were injured when the Korean fishing boat Jung Woo 3 caught fire at Montevideo port in Uruguay on March 3.

Montevideo port authorities and Escena S.A agency which manages the fishing ship said the fire occurred at 4.15am of March 3. At that time, there were around 40 sailors on board, mostly from Asia, including 25 Vietnamese.

The two dead sailors were identified as Nguyen Van Hiu, 30 and Tran Van Duan, 25.

The four injured sailors include Nguyen Hai Duong, 21, Nguyen Van Tuan, 30, Nguyen Tien Son, 26, and Le Duc Thang, 21, all from the central province of Ha Tinh.

Besides Vietnamese victims, two Chinese sailors were also injured in the fire.

After learning about the fire, the Vietnamese embassy in Argentina and Uruguay has immediately has contacted local authorities and asked them to coordinate in rescue efforts.

The incident is currently under investigation. The Jung Woo 2, like Jung Woo 3 belonging to the same owner, was also on fire in January, leaving three Vietnamese dead.
