VietNamNet Bridge – The U-19 national football squad under coach Trieu Quang Ha left for Myanmar yesterday, Sep 6, to attend the ASEAN Football Federation's U-19 Youth Football Championships.
Viet Nam were drawn in group B and will meet Brunei tomorrow, Myanmar on Saturday, Indonesia next Monday and Laos on September 16.
Group A consists of Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia and Cambodia.
The final match will take place on September 21.
* Phuoc grabs more golds in Ha Noi
Young swimmer Hoang Quy Phuoc swam to three gold medals at the National Swimming Championship held in the Ha Noi National Aquatic Centre on Monday.
The Da Nang-based swimmer won the men's 200m medley, the 100m butterfly and the 100m backstroke events. The 17-year-old also set a new national record in the men's 200m medley with a time of 2min 8.25sec, breaking his own record of 2min 9.44sec which he set at the National Sports Games last year.
On the women's side, Duong Thi Thom of Quang Ninh snatched gold in the 100m backstroke with a time of 1min 5.66sec, followed by Nguyen Thi Anh Vien from the Army and Pham Le Hong Hanh of HCM City.
In the 100m butterfly, Vo Thi Hong Tho from Da Nang City finished first with a time of 1min 4.63sec. Le Thi My Thao of Binh Phuoc and Le Thi Viet Trinh of Quang Binh Province followed in second and third.
Phuoc's effort helped his team take the lead with eight golds, four silvers and two bronzes. The Army team were second with five golds, six silvers and four bronzes. HCM City came in third with three gold, three silver and five bronze medals.
The National Finswimming Championship is scheduled to be held on September 8-11 in the same venue.
