In a Group B match on the same day, Malaysia defeated rivals Lao 4-2.

The tournament features Singapore, Thailand, and the hosts Viet Nam in Group A, and Malaysia, Laos, and Sydney FC from Australia in Group B.

Viet Nam will face Thailand in the last Group A match on Wednesday.
